The Alligator Alley Acrobatic Adventure Academy gave awards for special accomplishments. Three alligator friends proudly received an achievement award: Auggie for his armadillo roll, Aggie for her aardvark back arch, and Augusto for his amazing anaconda slither and slide. What an amazing day for all!

What is Different about this Alphabet Book?

Each “Critter Tale” has a little story with words specific to the “Letter of the Alphabet” that promotes oral-motor sequencing, word formation, and tongue control, combined with sight, sound, and new discovery!

The included OT/ST activity pages provides over 400 developmental and therapeutically based activities, exercises, and games specific to each “critter tale” and “letter” for a total of 26 different critter tales and 15-20 different activities for each critter. That’s a lot of fun and learning!

Join the alligators in acrobatic training activities. Pick one, pick a few, do some today and some another day!

Act it out activities: Remember all activities can be modified so that any child can participate at their level - talk to your service provider for ways to adapt the activity!

o   Count off the seconds while you stand on one leg. Which leg can you stand longer on? Hang on if you need to!

o   How many times can you jump up and down in one place?

o   Try jumping up and down with hands by side, and with arms out to the side for balance. Which one is easier?

o   How far can you jump backwards? Forwards?

o   Can you roll across the room going from one side to the other?

o   Can you scooch yourself on your backwards around the table or out of the room?

o   If you have a pillow you can jump on, try jumping on and off from side to side

o   Try playing the game of hopscotch

o   Walk around the room on your hands and feet, forwards, backwards, and sideways

o   Show how you can rock back and forth from heel to toe while standing in one place

o   Pass a small stuffed toy around and around your back as fast as you can, then change direction and pass it around the other way. How many times can you pass it around in 30-seconds?

o   Try to walk heel to toe along a straight line, curvy line, or circle (use strip of fabric, chalk line, lines between wood or tiled floor)

o   How many stuffed animals or bean bags can you toss up in the air and catch before they hit the ground? Start with one and add one at a time.

o   Show how you can crawl along the floor on your stomach staying low under a table or through a big open cardboard box

o Try crawling over a bean bag chair (forwards and backwards)

o   Help set up an obstacle course where you have to walk around items, crawl over pillows, crawl through open boxes or tunnels, or jump over small soft items. Time yourself!

o   Laying on your stomach bend your knees and try to reach back to touch your toes. Grab on if you can and rock back and forth.

o   If you were to pet an alligator what do you think it would feel like?

o   Ask for help in looking up pictures of alligators and finding out where and how they live. Can you make up a story of your own about an alligator?

o   How many names can you think of that start with the letter “A”?

o How many “A’s” can you find in the story about the three alligators?

o   Draw and color an achievement award for all your efforts! (Free print-outs available on TheraPlay4Kids website and on Facebook group of TheraPlay4Kids)

o   Rise up and down on tippy-toes slow and easy, then fast and quick

o Pile pillows, cushions, or folded up blankets on your back and try to crawl across the floor without letting any fall off. Start with one and add to the stack to see how many you can carry, crawling across the room, under the table, or even up the stairs, before the pile topples off.

o If you have a scooter board on hand, lay on the scooter, and use your hands and feet to pull yourself forwards and backwards around the room

o   Can you count the teeth of the three alligators in the picture? Can you count your teeth?

o  What other animal can you pretend to be? Act it out!
